Powered Parachutes
When compared to my home in Australia, capturing a golden sunset in the UK is not very common, so to be at a great location capturing a golden sunset and then having a couple of powered parachutes enter the frame is just something else.
The Location
Talacre Beach is without a doubt my favourite shooting location in the UK. beaches in general are great places for photography, with their ever changing scenery they are a different experience at each visit. And despite all the great beaches where I am from, lighthouses are not so common, so it is a bit of a novelty for me.
The story
I captured this image while on a visit to Talacre with a group of Cub Scouts when I was a Scout leader. So my reasoning for being there was nothing too exciting, all the excitement was to do with our luck of having a stunning sunset and a couple of people who decided it would be a good afternoon for a quick flight.
This image was captured in a series of about 5 or 6 photos, as the powered parachutes slowly made their way down towards the lighthouse, with this image having them closest to the lighthouse and making for the best framing. The image illustrates just how peaceful it was on the beach that afternoon.
As I said earlier, Talacre is my favourite shooting location in the UK and I cannot count how many times I have been there in the 11 years that I have lived here. I have been there in all different weather conditions and at all different times of the day and night, and it never ceases to provide something new and exciting to capture.
